Szymon Mika (born 1991 in Wadowice, Poland) – jazz guitar player, despite his young age playing with uncommon maturity, and brilliant technique. Prizewinner of Grand Prix on Jazz nad Odra Festival 2012 and Azoty Tarnow International Jazz Contest 2013. His musical adventure started at very early age, playing drums at his father’s band. After few year break in music, at 11 started playing guitar. At first – playing classical guitar at local music school, then under guidance of Jaroslaw Dzien, and extraordinary teacher Adam Zalas. In 2013 he graduated from Jazz Department in Music Academy in Katowice with bachelor degree, now continues master program. On daily basis he shares the stage with top Polish jazz musicians. Szymon was also participant of many jazz workshops, had opportunity to take lessons from such masters like Peter Bernstein, Ed Cherry, David
Doruzka.
In 2013 Szymon released hammond trio album called Organ Spot.
In 2014 he recorded two albums so far. One with his co-leader group Pałka Mika Quartet that is going to be released at the end of 2014 and another with Piotr Budniak Essential Group. (Pressetext)
