Danielle Pamp 'Memory Fragments'
Sorry this part has no English translation
My work is largely autobiographical. Making use of memories and my personal experiences (bright memory-fragments, and memories of conversations and interactions) I create narratives about Identity, gender identity, femininity, upbringings, the nuclear family, relations, traumas, and what they mean for human existence in general.
I want to express a sense of personal catastrophe while at the same time aiming at a more general humanizing perspective. An angle that is so personal so that it takes on a general relatable form, always with an existential atmosphere present.
As reference material I use old family albums and other artifacts from my family archive. It is mainly the female characters I focus on, as a way to explore my own identity and trans-feminine role, and making parallels between the life-experiences of multiple generations of women in my family, emphasizing our continuity.
There is a clear connection to film scenes in my paintings, a visual language I find well suited for the kind of stories I want to tell with my paintings. The moments or ”memory fragments”, as I call them, gives enough information to trigger your imagination but it does not tell the whole story just like a film scene does. (Pressetext)
