Harald Huber (born 1954 in Lower Austria) is an Austrian musicologist, composer and pianist. He developed the "Department of Popular Music" at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 1980, which led to the artistic-scientific "Institute for Popular Music" (ipop) in 2002. He teaches there as a professor of "Theory and History of Popular Music".

Harald Huber was President of the Austrian Music Council from 2006 to 2024, was a member of the board of the European Music Council from 2005-2010 and is a permanent member of the Austrian UNESCO Commission's Working Group on Cultural Diversity. As a scientist and artist, he is committed to the entire diversity of music. He has composed over 300 works and is active as a musician in the fields of new music, jazz, world music, rock/pop, dance and improvisation theatre. In December 2024 - not least on his initiative - the "Austrian Jazz Prize" will once again be awarded in three categories.
