Андрій Прозоров, as his name is spelled in Ukrainian, was born in Odessa and studied classical saxophone at the national conservatory there. In 2001 pianist Rudi Wilfer invited him to Vienna, where Prozorov completed his studies in jazz with Wolfgang Puschnig at the Musikuniversität Wien. Since 2002 he frequently worked with Joe Zawinul und Karl Ritter, between 2005 and 2013 he toured with Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries. Andrej Prozorov has played with Alegre Corrêa, Otto Lechner, David Six, Jon Sass and his friend Vadim Neselovskyi, who hails from Odessa, too.
The „window“ for this event opened on short notice and we deliberately decided to offer a carte blanche to Andrej Prozorov to present different facets of his musical cosmos on two evenings and to allow for encounters with other artists he has been thinking about for a long time. It’s understood that with these two evenings we declare our solidarity with the Ukraine. All donations via “Pay as you wish” for the live stream will be given to a charity organisation supporting the Ukraine. Laskavo prosymo – ласкаво просимо! CH
