AZURE is here!!! And not only that. On march 31st Ulrich Drechsler presents his new album and at the same time launches the producer network "LIMINAL ZONE Sounds".
After "Caramel" [2020] and "Chrome" [2021] now AZURE. With this, the musical triplets from Ulrich Drechsler's large, multi-disciplinary music forge LIMINAL ZONE are finally complete.
In search of new forms of expression, work began in 2018 on a club format that would unite all the ideas and inspirations gathered over decades and be completely realisable live. Located on the threshold between electronic club music, trip hop, dancefloor trance, drum'n'bass, jazz blasts and film music. The work on AZURE took almost 5 years.
An incredible amount of music was written, discarded again, new instrumentations were tried out and questioned again, a multitude of instruments were experimented with. In a long, intensive process, Ulrich developed the idea of a music in which all elements, nuances and sounds come together to form the soundtrack of an imaginary blockbuster.
The result is an electro-acoustic storm! A force of nature that claims to define its personal idea of club sound and has the effect of a frenzy on the audience. You will dance, discover the infinite and sink into it.
With AZURE, Ulrich once again tries to consciously and courageously evade all common styles and genres. Pigeonholing is alien to him. Just as it is already the case with the two highly praised sibling projects "Caramel" and "Chrome" in their individual way.
Ulrich Drechsler / AZURE
AZURE is Ulrich's greatest adventure so far. A journey into completely new musical territory. On board a fantastic team of like-minded accomplices.
Tyrolean drummer Raphael Keuschnigg and Viennese bass icon Oliver Steger form the foundation of AZURE. Together they deliver the piercing, merciless beats and basses that won't let the listener sit still. On top of that, the two keyboarders, keyboard artists and electronic musicians Lukas Leitner and Bernhard Höchtel create large-scale atmospheres, breathless carpets of sound and endless rhythmic drones, layer upon layer. Listening to them, one gets the feeling that each of them has clearly more than just two hands at their disposal.
Finally Ulrich's saxophones and clarinets, which lay floating hymns, trance-like rhythms and soundscapes above, below & in between and let everything melt together.
A quick breath before the party continues with the presentation of the brand new producer network "LIMINAL ZONE Sounds". The remix album "CARAMEL ReImagined" was released in 2020. Inspired by its success, Ulrich has since been working on the idea of a cooperative network of his LIMINAL ZONE triplets with (inter)national representatives of the most diverse electronica genres. "LIMINAL ZONE Sounds" will be the platform for joint music productions, event series, remix formats and much more. A whole new music universe is in the making.
To celebrate this, Ulrich has invited the wonderful Club Apollo for this evening, with whom he has been making music in the studio for two years and who is an important part of "LIMINAL ZONE Sounds“.
With influences from the most diverse directions of alternative music styles of the last decades, Club Apollo, consisting of Patrick Vanek and Max Sternek, have created their own sound cosmos.
New Wave, Dream Pop, UK Bass, Indie Rock and co. Nothing is taboo in the urban-technoid sound corset of the two highly talented musicians. The nostalgic noise of analogue synthesizers and hardware runs through the sound, as do danceable rhythms, dreamy melodies and melancholic vocals.
A DJ set and a joint live set with Ulrich will round off the evening.
Welcome to AZURE! Welcome to LIMINAL ZONE Sounds!!!
