The Cuban pianist, violist and composer Aruán Ortiz, who lives in New York and Barcelona, will be a guest of the Barbara Bruckmüller Big Band for a seven-day residency in February 2024. Inspired by the process of the creative act, which moves from the individual instrument to the whole orchestra, Barbara Bruckmüller felt the desire to bring these sensations closer to the audience, which in most cases is confronted with the entire work. The core of the composition "A Chain of Moments - Suite in Five Parts", based on piano and string quartet, forms the starting point of this triology (19.02.2014, Musikquartier 1060). The second part is characterized by the instrumentation of a classical jazz formation (21.02.2024). The grand finale will take place in the form of a combination of the previously experienced soundscapes at Porgy & Bess (22.02.2024). This ensemble will also be expanded to include instruments for a full jazz orchestra. In addition, further compositions by Aruán Ortiz will be presented, which he has arranged for Barbara Bruckmüller's jazz orchestra.
