Electric Circus remixes classic soul and rock for the 21st century with sampled grooves, improvised sonic exploration, light projections and a reinventions of mid 20th century psychedelia.

Wayne Horvitz is a musician who has been a musical companion of mine since the mid-1980s, both through his collaboration with John Zorn's fantastic band "Naked City" and through his own projects such as "Nine Below Zero" (with Butch Morris), "The President", "Gravitas", "Zony Mash", "Pigpen", "Sweeter than the Day" and many more. There are also a number of references to the Austrian jazz scene, as Horvitz had a 3-day portrait in P&B in March 2001. Now Horvitz is drawing on this experience and presenting two spectacular projects involving the local scene. After "Sweeter than the Day" with his Italian ensemble and the wonderful Koehne Quartet, there is a particularly spectacular project to be realized today. "Electric Circus" is a regular collective that performs weekly in its home city of Seattle and, in the spirit of Butch Morris, performs large-scale orchestral music. Now he is realizing his ideas with the local scene. Welcome back, Wayne! CH
