The Porgy&Bess stage band “Purple is the Color” invites the Czech multiinstrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Marian Friedl and his Attacca Suite Beranci a Vlci (Rams and Wolves).

This musical suite (based on East Moravian and Carpathian folklore) combines many genres and brings together three musical formations in one ensemble: the ethnojazz band Baroshi, the folk women's choir Kudlanky from Kudlovice and the band RukyNaDudy (with a focus on the archaic music of the Beskids).

The first half of the evening will focus on the introduction of folk instruments to jazz context and the introduction of a smaller cast, the so-called „Baroshi-Band“. The whole and fulminant Attacca Suite Beránci a Vlci, will be heard in the second half of the evening.

About the attaca suite Beránci a vlci:
Lambs and wolves (Beránci a vlci) are the personal vision of Moravian world music of Marian Friedl, who is the author, producer and director of the project. It is a 60-minute long attaca suite based on the folk music of Eastern Moravia. The suite contains original folk songs in a distinctive arrangement as well as Friedl's compositions and thematically deals with the exploration of the boundaries between opposites. The album Beránci a vlci was awarded the Czech Music Academy Anděl 2017 award in the folk category. (Marian Friedl)
