Composer, Arranger, and Conductor Vince Mendoza joins the KUG Jazz Orchestra for an unforgettable musical collaboration. Mr. Mendoza brings over 30 years of experience to the project having worked with world-class artists such as Björk, Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Elvis Costello, Sting, Joni Mitchell, the Berlin Philharmonic, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. As a leader, Mendoza has released 12 solo recordings including Epiphany (with the London Symphony Orchestra), Nights on Earth, 2021’s Award Winning Freedom Over Everything and his most recent Grammy nominated recording Olympians with the Metropole Orkest. His compositions and arrangements have earned him an impressive 8 Grammy Awards and 38 Nominations.

During his trip to Austria, Mr. Mendoza will conduct the KUG Jazz Orchestra through some of his favorite compositions and arrangements. From lush melodies and orchestrations to energetic rhythms and improvisation, the concert will feature a wide range of jazz and contemporary music styles. The KUG Jazz Orchestra is the perfect vehicle for Mr. Mendoza and his varied musical program. One of the musical highlights of the Jazz Institute of Kunstuni Graz, the KUG Jazz Orchestra (directed by Johannes Berauer) consists of young professionals who are currently Bachelor and Master students. Though a student ensemble, the KUG Jazz Orchestra plays with the mature sound, time feel, and precision of a professional orchestra.
