Phone 3 Phone
"Phone 3 Phone" is one of the most exciting ethno-jazz bands in Austria: founded in 1993 by Edith Lettner and Stephan Brodsky, the formation has been known among insiders for years for its unconventional music: in their multi-layered original compositions, influences from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean merge into world music in the best sense of the word. Their jazz dialog is far removed from the mainstream: confident, groovy, sometimes minimalist.
Freemotion
After years of traveling in Africa, saxophonist and composer Edith Lettner now lives half in New York and half in Vienna. In her band freemotion, she brings together sound artists who can all draw on a wealth of experience in jazz and world music. They play original compositions that leave plenty of room for improvisation and dynamic interplay. (Press release)
Stephan Brodsky celebrates his 70th birthday and his 50th stage anniversary - fittingly at the Jazz & Musicclub and with two fromations that have enriched the Austrian jazz & world music scene for decades. With "Phone3Phone" he plays the marimba, with "Freemotion" he plays the drums. Congratulations! CH
