When the music of jazz pianist Omer Klein, born in Israel in 1982, is described as “boundless” (New York Times), this is meant quite literally: Klein composes for solo piano and big band, for jazz trio and orchestra, for theater, dance, and film. With the Omer Klein Trio, he has regularly thrilled audiences in Vienna in recent years. Now he is doubling his efforts and returning to P&B with his newly formed sextet, The Poetics, featuring two saxophones and percussion.

The core of the new sextet is made up of his long-time trio colleagues: bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and drummer Amir Bresler, both of whom he has known since school. With them, he has created his distinctive music, which is influenced by so many styles – from traditional Jewish music to contemporary jazz and classical – and has won many awards.

The Poetics, which first appeared on stage in spring 2025 during Klein's residency at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, now takes the music into new sonic realms. However, the infectious grooves and memorable melodies that have always characterized Klein's music remain. His love of Brazilian and African music is also reflected in the new compositions.
