International big band Cotatcha Orchestra (CZ,SK,BG) was founded ten years ago by award winning trumpeter and composer Jiří Kotača with a vision to play unusual and original big band music blending different genres into jazz orchestra context. Big band of the 21st century! The band morphed and grew with each new repertoire. From compositions by legendary world-known authors through contemporary Czech works for the big band to collaborations with great foreign guests such as Ilja Reijngoud, Mar Vilaseca, Mirna Bogdanović or Daniel Caccia. Over time the band‘s very own repertoire seemed to mature in the background. It originated right in the core of the big band and is tailored to the entire band and its soloists. Released on their album Bigband electronics - where the world of large jazz ensemble meets with electronic music and creates unique music combinations. The album was nominated for “Czech Grammy” - Anděl Prize and won Czech jazz harvest prize. In Porgy and Bess Viennai, Cotatcha Orchestra will present the best from the album as well as newly written pieces combining the sound of big band with electronic music and other genres. The concert is supported by the city Brno, regional government of The South Moravian Region and by Czech Centre Vienna.
"On the Czech scene, an orchestra has been born that, at least on a European scale, can withstand comparison with its competitors, which it proves not only with its music, but also with its presentation."
