SILK PATH 4 – Colorful Music off the beaten Track
The Silk Road is known as an ancient trade route along which goods were transported between Europe and China, among other places. But the merchants also transported their culture, their life experiences, and their stories. This exchange has always inspired people and enriched their personalities. Science, music, painting, literature, philosophy, physical mastery... All these arts have been appropriated and passed on by humanity, because where would our development be without cultural exchange?
However, a road with its heavy traffic can also destroy the subtle nuances of poetry, which is why we have started to take a quieter path. Did you know that Shanghai was a stronghold of Western (jazz) music in the 1930s? The story behind this is very exciting and can be researched and read about with a little skill. The quartet “SILK PATH 4” deals with the exchange of Chinese and Western music, combining traditional melodies and lyrics with jazz harmonies and modern grooves.
“Off the beaten track” is written in our fortune cookie today, and we don't want to miss out on this wisdom, so be curious! (Oliver Steger)
Owls is one of Austria’s most distinctive jazz piano trios. Celebrated for their cinematic, genre-defying sound, they blend European jazz tradition with classical sensitivity, electronic textures, and pop-infused clarity — all shaped by a deep commitment to sonic aesthetics and atmospheric storytelling. Their performances are immersive, multidimensional journeys: poetic yet precise, serene yet charged with energy and rich in imagination.
Founded by pianist and composer Simon Oberleitner and drummer Konstantin Kräutler-Horváth, Owls crafts finely tuned musical landscapes with a distinct artistic signature. In 2025, renowned bassist Oliver Steger joined the ensemble, completing its latest evolution with a vibrant, organic low end.
