To celebrate Chick Corea's 85th birthday (June 12, 1941 - February 9, 2021), jazz pianist Monika Herzig (USA/AU) presents a curated program of Corea's music. From duets with vibraphonist Florian Klinger (Crystal Silence, Senor Mouse) to quintet classics from Return to Forever, Electric Band, and Three Quartets, Monika Herzig will also present her new recordings of solo piano works.

Chick Corea is an NEA Jazz Master, and his music has been honored with 27 Grammys and 73 nominations. Above all, Chick Corea's joy of making music and his virtuoso expressiveness captivated jazz pianist Monika Herzig early on in her career. She studied his music and technique intensively, documenting her findings in her book “Experiencing Chick Corea: A Listener's Companion.” She has been living and working in the USA since 1988, but has also been spending a lot of time in Vienna for the past three years as a professor and vice rector at Jam Music Lab Private University. To celebrate Chick Corea's and her own birthday, she is offering an exciting program with the best musicians from the Viennese scene and international guests. The audience is invited to join in the celebration and, above all, to enjoy the joy of music-making and stylistic diversity.
