For the first time at Porgy's, the cult band from Vienna presents selected songs by arguably the greatest singer-songwriter and lyricist in folk, country, and rock history: Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan. His song titles alone are meaningful, promising, and expressive, and his works have long been anthems of music history, such as “Blowing In The Wind,” “Knocking On Heaven's Door,” “The Times They Are a-Changin',” and “Forever Young.”

Dylan had a formative influence on many other musicians of his time: Van Morrison, The Beatles, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, Nick Cave. In Austria, too, he inspired musicians such as Willi Resetarits, Wolfgang Ambros, and Falco. Interestingly, his songs often only became global hits when interpreted by other artists: “All Along The Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix, “Mr. Tambourine Man” by The Byrds, “It Ain't Me Babe” by June Carter & Johnny Cash, and Manfred Mann's version of “Mighty Quinn.” Bob Dylan himself admitted that he based his later live version of “All Along The Watchtower” on the legendary Jimi Hendrix version.

MONTI BETON invites you to a relaxed and informative evening with music from perhaps the most creative singer-songwriter in music history, presented in the typically entertaining style of MONTI BETON.
