Emiliano D’Auria is an Italian pianist and composer, based in New York, whose music is rooted in the dialogue between composition and improvisation. His work explores sound as a narrative space, where structure and freedom coexist and where the collective dimension of the ensemble plays a central role.

Rather than focusing on individual virtuosity, his approach emphasizes interaction, listening and shared responsibility within the group. Each musician contributes actively to the development of form, dynamics and musical direction, shaping performances that are always alive and responsive. His musical language draws inspiration from both Mediterranean culture and the Afro-American jazz tradition, not as a stylistic fusion, but as a meeting point between different human and musical sensibilities. Attention to gesture, counterpoint and timbral balance is fundamental to his writing, as is the relationship between silence, density and space.

In a time marked by speed and fragmentation, D’Auria’s music invites deeper listening and presence. Jazz, in this sense, becomes a practice of encounter and openness, capable of creating a shared experience between musicians and audience. Alongside his performance activity, he is deeply engaged in study and research, continuously refining his compositional voice while developing new material for future projects and live performances.
