A special (Viennese) collaboration emerges when DIE STROTTERN and JAZZWERKSTATT WIEN join forces. This can be heard on their current album “Sieben Zwetschken” (Jazzwerkstatt Records // release date: June 13, 2025). On it, they combine lyrical finesse with the radiance of various instruments.
The Viennese song duo Die Strottern has previously collaborated with the JazzWerkstatt Wien collective. This resulted in the albums “Elegant” (2009) and “Wo fangts an” (2015). Almost ten years later, the third collaboration follows with the title “Sieben Zwetschken.” Die Strottern, alias Klemens Lendl and David Müller, have been making music together for more than twenty years, breathing new life into the Viennese song and bringing it to an international stage. JazzWerkstatt Wien was founded in 2004 and has since been an inspiration and companion for many musicians and composers. Seven musicians from this creative collective have joined forces with Die Strottern to create a virtuoso Gesamtkunstwerk. True to the motto “the more, the better,” additional reinforcement was brought in in the form of well-known lyricists. Proven forces on the Viennese song scene, such as Karl Stirner and Christian Tesak, contributed lyrics, as did authors Teresa Präauer and Lukas Meschik. The songs reflect, ponder, and offer both an introspective perspective and a critical view of the current world.
