The Scott Kinsey Group brings together five distinctive voices in contemporary electric jazz: keyboardist Scott Kinsey, guitarist Max Light, bassist Hadrien Feraud, drummer Gergo Borlai and vocalist Mer Sal.

The group will perform music from Kinsey’s new album, Thought Distortions, along with selected compositions from his catalog and the music of Joe Zawinul and Weather Report. Built around deep grooves, electronic textures, spontaneous interaction and open improvisation, the performances connect the legacy of electric jazz with a contemporary and forward-looking sound.

Physical copies of Thought Distortions will be available exclusively at the concerts on this tour, ahead of the album’s wider public release. During November, these shows will be the only place to purchase the new album.

SCOTT KINSEY
Keyboardist, composer and producer Scott Kinsey is one of the defining voices of contemporary electric jazz. Best known for his 21 years with the influential fusion group Tribal Tech, Kinsey was also a protégé, collaborator and close musical associate of Joe Zawinul. His work combines advanced improvisation, dense synthesizer textures, rhythmic exploration and a lifelong commitment to pushing electric jazz forward.

MAX LIGHT
New York-based guitarist Max Light is one of the most acclaimed young improvisers in contemporary jazz. He earned second place in the 2019 Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition and has developed a distinctive musical voice built on sophisticated harmony, technical command and fearless improvisation.

HADRIEN FERAUD
French bassist Hadrien Feraud is internationally recognized for his extraordinary technique, rhythmic precision and melodic imagination. He has performed and recorded with artists including John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Hiromi and Frank Gambale, establishing himself as one of the leading electric bassists of his generation.

GERGO BORLAI
Hungarian drummer Gergo Borlai is known worldwide for his remarkable power, precision, independence and musical versatility. His extensive credits include collaborations with Nguyên Lê, Frank Gambale and Gary Willis, and his playing moves effortlessly between jazz, fusion, rock, funk and complex contemporary music.

MER SAL
Vocalist and songwriter Mer Sal brings an expressive, soulful voice and an experimental approach to vocal sound and texture. Her work with Scott Kinsey includes the album Adjustments, the Kinsey Sessions at The Baked Potato, as well as live performances and recordings that move freely between jazz, soul, electronic music and open improvisation.

ABOUT THOUGHT DISTORTIONS
Thought Distortions is Scott Kinsey’s new studio album—a rhythmically charged and sonically adventurous exploration of perception, memory and the unstable space between musical intention and improvisation. The album combines layered synthesizers, deep grooves, vocal textures and spontaneous interaction, bringing together Kinsey’s electric-jazz foundations with a distinctly contemporary sound.

Music from Thought Distortions will form the center of the November tour. Physical copies will be sold exclusively at the tour concerts before the album receives its wider public release.
