The show must go on(line)
At its last press conference on May 15th the government has announced that starting with May 29th events up to a maximum of 100 participants can be hosted if a distance of at least 1 meter between persons is guaranteed. We will make use of this opportunity and open our doors (though for a limited audience) for all “The show must go on(line)” concerts. Live streaming with live audience! We are calculating, taking measurements, testing, we are moving chairs and tables in order to find out how many people we may allow to enter without violating any conditions. We should be able to offer different numbers of tickets for all shows online. If you are interested, check out the shows on our website, further information will be updated at regular intervals.
Our decision to start our “regular” program on September 1st 2020 remains. Until then we will continue our live streaming series “The show must go on(line)” every Thursday and Saturday in the company of an audience. In addition a number of extra shows on other dates will be scheduled.
Below you can find the statement we prepared in early April – so some details may not be exactly up-to-date, but it should be correct in general:
We have invited some artists of the Austrian jazz scene to perform in small ensembles ‒ solo, duo, trio, quartet. The demanded distance between them will be guaranteed, of course. A team led by Friedemann Derschmidt will be shooting, our team led by Ronald Matky and Norbert Benesch will provide a good sound, Michael Aschauer and Thomas Peterseil will take care of transmissions as flawless as possible ‒ shows you can watch at home every Thursday and Saturday at 8.30 p. m. via www.porgy.at. As you cannot visit our club anymore, we will deliver the concerts to your home – jazz delivery service! The streams should not/may not/cannot be downloaded, but will be available only once. Basically we are offering this service for free, but of course we would be grateful for your donations – the motto is “pay as you wish”.
We will strictly abide by all governmental regulations. In case our project should be forbidden some day, we will (hopefully) already have finished the shooting of some of these shows. In addition, we own some very professional live recordings from the past that we could broadcast instead. But as mentioned above: our new idea is going live! Welcome to the club!
